My client is looking for a Senior Network & Service Management (Solarwinds) to join on them on a 6 month contract. As a Senior Network & Service Manager, you will be responsible for the architecture and design of Solarwind Network & Service Management toolsets. Its implementation and integration mechanisms for systems and new large scale integrated systems.
Role: Senior Network & Service Management (Solarwinds)
Pay: £550.00 per day via Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Location: Newport
Contract: 6 months
Hours: 37 hours per week Monday – Friday Fully on site (Flexibility to condense 37 hours over four days)
Security Clearance: Current UK SC clearance and be capable of obtaining NATO SC clearance at a minimum. British National. Dual Nationality will not be suitable for this role.

Job Summary
The Senior Engineer for Network & Service Management Toolsets is responsible for the architecture and design of Solarwind Network & Service Management toolsets. Its implementation and integration mechanisms for systems and new large scale integrated systems.
The position-holder will act as a solution authority to the bid team and delivery projects and will take a leading role in defining and developing the solution that will support Service Management processes. We are looking for someone who is highly organised and experienced in a similar role using SolarWinds as the primary toolset, with experience of the application in military communications.

The successful candidate must be proactive, diligent with a strong technical ability, and they must have skills in both presentation and customer relations both at a technical and non-technical level. The role includes both hands-on implementation tasks, and design work in support of the solution. The successful candidate must be proactive, diligent with a strong technical ability.

The current projects will require an awareness of operating infrastructure services in a secured environment and an understanding of enabling security lockdown and controls to allow system accreditation.

  • As a member of the Bid team lead the design for service management toolsets to satisfy the customer requirements using Solarwinds as the principal toolset.
  • Design and Implementation of Management Tooling: Solarwinds Orion / Solarwinds Hybrid cloud
  • Experience using Solarwinds modules including ( NPM, SAM, NCM, VNQM, UDT,IPAM, NTM, VMAN,EOC)
  • Particular focus on bespoke application monitoring using Solarwinds SAM, and management in a multi-vendor network (e.g. Cisco, Palo Alto, HP), a multi operating system (Windows, Linux) and virtualisation platforms such as VMWare.
  • Focus on integrating Solarwinds with other software such as ITIL based Service Desk and SIEM tools.
  • Use of Solarwinds SDK & API
  • Devops using Ansible, YAML and API Development using RESTful.
  • Sufficient network knowledge to liaise with Network Engineering team to ensure holistic end to end management of the network and network services.
  • Collaboration with the customer to understand their requirements and develop the overall architecture and HLD (High Level Designs)
  • Complete the technical document for the overall design.
  • Work with third party suppliers providing system components.

Skills/Experience Required
Essential:

  • Exposure of working with a 24/7 high availability & highly secure systems; Skillful in identifying design risks.
  • Proven experience of designing multi-vendor complex secure communications and information exchange network interfaces to government grade.
  • Proven experience of development of prototype secure solution within a multi-disciplined team whilst providing operational support.
  • Knowledge of network management services at major airports
  • Experience of ITIL-aligned service management processes
  • Proven experience of working with product vendors to optimize a solution from a technical axis.
  • Proven experience working within at least 1of the following customers environments UK MOD, NATO and Central Government
  • Application of security hardening/lockdown of systems
  • Experience in implementing certificate based network solutions.

Highly Desirable:

  • Demonstrate the ability to participate in all phases of a Technical delivery from initial requirements capture through to in-service operations.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical subjects to senior non-technical staff

Ability to balance technical and non-technical (e.g. relationship management) aspect
Demonstrable Skills/Qualifications in the following areas:

    • Microsoft Windows & Linux Technologies
    • High-level knowledge of networks (VLAN etc)
    • Orchestration and Automation platforms and best practice e.g. Oasis TOSCA, ETSI NFV, MEF LSO.

Education & Training
Essential – Strong experience in a similar role
Have completed a recognised Engineering Apprentice with HNC-D or Engineering Qualification to Degree level
ITIL v3 Foundation Preferable or have equivalent suitable experience in the areas required.
