I am seeking an MRO Production Manager (Aviation) to join my renowned aviation industry client based just north of Heathrow Airport, West London. Strong aviation MRO regulatory requirement experience is essential.
The MRO Production Manager (Aviation) will lead and inspire three workshop teams (Component Build Technicians, Paint Shop & Hydraulic team) to provide a safe, high quality, efficient and cost-effective production services.
They will ensure compliance with all regulatory and corporate requirements and procedures, engage in the company strategy and finance plan development, deliver robust plans to achieve business and operational performance targets.
They will be responsible for cost centre financial and headcount budgets and recruitment, department quality standards, delivery targets and KPIs.

Direct reports: Production Supervisors & Team Leaders
Location: Hayes, Middlesex
Shift: Mon-Fri. Flexible working to support production delivery & team communications between 07:00-19:00.
Salary: From £50,000
Travel: Some overseas travel.
Main MRO Production Manager (Aviation) responsibilities:
- Act commercially, balancing quality, costs and delivery impact.
- Accountability for the team/s Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards, ensuring safety is your number one priority.
- Develop lean working principles.
- Maximise IT interfaces to enhance business development.
- assist with budget setting and ensure its adherence.
- Manage team/individual performance.
- Implement relevant change initiatives.
- Embrace a leadership style that empowers people to raise safety/ethics concerns, which at all times are immediately addressed, communicated, and dealt with transparently.
- Create a daily communication pathway that both encourages individual and collective team dialogue.
- Create opportunities to stretch, learn & succeed and thereby grow the production team.
- Provide guidance by giving feedback on performance.
- Appreciate diversity of skills and mind-sets as a key to excellent results.
- Ensure the department is optimally manned and all relevant training is completed.
- Develop a training pathway to encourage colleagues to learn new skills to greater business flexibility and career development.
- Coach and develop team members and encourage self-managing work groups.
- Use only SMART performance metrics, ensuring they are displayed, maintained and understood.
- Maximise the use of data analysis to create a culture of continuous improvement and increase performance output.
Ideal candidate profile:
Essential:
- Degree relatable to engineering or; HNC/HND (or equivalent) preferably in an engineering or aircraft maintenance discipline or;
- A management or business qualification or;
- Demonstrable equivalent experience leading technical teams
- Resilient under pressure
- Trustworthy team player with proven ability to consistently manage, lead, inspire and guide.
- Evidence of people management experience within an operational, unionised environment.
- Excellent planning, problem solving organisation and administration skills.
- Decision maker, analysing for root causes rather than presenting the problem.
- Self-motivated with flexible approach.
- Engage others and develop their potential with confident decision-making skills.
- Proven experience in performance management and of delivering sustainable change.
- Excellent understanding of MRO operations and processes.
- Broad-based knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements (e.g. CAA/FAA/EASA).
- Extensive experience in budgetary issues, business measures, report and business case writing skills.
- Excellent process improvement and change management knowledge.
- Working knowledge of Health & safety Regulations.
- PC literate; ability to input and manipulate data using multiple platforms (e.g. SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
