Our client is a major Saudi based aircraft maintenance repair & overhaul facility (MRO). On their behalf we are looking to recruit an experienced Manager, Safety Management System (SMS). The role is responsible for planning and managing the SMS department activities to enforce and ensure the safety of all company’s operations as well as employees and property, conducting reviews and investigating safety failures. The Manager will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace. To improve conditions and execute various safety programs. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Safety activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of Safety to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate the development and implementation of an effective safety management system, including accident prevention and safety awareness programs aimed at achieving the highest possible safety standards, minimizing accidents and damage.
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in safety audits, inspections and investigation identify potential deficiencies and safety hazards, follow up on issues identified and to investigate incidents.
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
  • Ensures compliance to all relevant safety and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls across the department.

Education/Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Aerospace/Aviation science, Safety Management. Business Administration or any related field.
You should also be able to demonstrate.

  • A minimum of 2 years working in a managerial or supervisory capacity
  • A minimum 3 years’ work experience within the field of Aviation Safety
  • Appropriate Quality or Safety Managements Qualifications
