I am working with a fantastic client who are seeking a Director of Safety, Quality & Security to join them on a permanent basis.
Role: Director of Safety, Quality and Security
Location: Baghdad
Contract: Local operator employment contract
Salary: Remuneration in accordance with experience + benefits
Responsibilities
- Development and supervise implementation of the SMS;
- Safety performance monitoring; and
- Adherence to continuous improvement.
- Managing reported safety issues;
- Staying concurrent with safety compliance; and
- Supervising policies and procedures.
- Providing safety reports and Risk analysis;
- Manage the companies Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) and Aircraft Safety Action Program (ASAP) Programs
- Check the data reports from the FDR’s bi-annual FDR checks
- End to end management of the company’s Flight Operations Quality Assurance Program
- Management of the ASAP Program including but not limited to: Reporting and data management, supporting and educating crew, preparation of safety briefings, and event liaison
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of customer-specific safety & security requirements and expectations
- Audit, monitor, educate and provide guidance to locations to ensure they understand, implement and maintain compliance with all policies, requirements, and procedures
- Perform station audits and work with leadership to implement corrections/improvements
- Support stations in their use of safety performance measurement tools such as Line Operation Safety Assessments (LOSA) and Job Hazard Assessment (JHA)
- Work collaboratively with Quality to assess and mitigate risk prior to introducing any new work procedure, chemical or job equipment/tooling
- Work collaboratively with Training on content and delivery of training materials associated with Safety to ensure effectively
- Responsible for maintaining the airline quality and security programme
- Compliance in both regulatory and legislative areas of aviation security
- Ensure a timely response to operational threats
- Report to the Safety Review Board on all ongoing security risk/threats within company AOC and its operations
- Assist in the review of security training for Flight Crew and Ground Personnel and provide guidance and assistance to Training Instructors.
- Directs team responsible for program performance/governance, quality assurance, compliance, and data analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or 6 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Aviation security industry.
- Minimum 5 years in training field.
- Certified aviation auditor preferable
- Must have attended the appropriate/mandatory Government/IATA Aviation Security courses as required for Security Managers.
- Knowledge of current and developing technical equipment/facilities, techniques for loss reduction, audit processes and management practices.
- Sound knowledge of National and International aviation security legislation
- Have experience of FOQA programs
- Have knowledge of Flight Data Recording Systems including being able understand flight data
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the ASAP program, SMS, and ERP
- Proficiency with all MS Suite tools, including Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to produce required reports, statistical charts, and PowerPoint presentations
- Excellent skills, both orally and in writing, in the English language
- Ability to develop, evaluate and upgrade safety, quality and security programs
- Auditing experience preferred
- Deep experience in SMS and Quality Management System (QMS)
- Aviation knowledge;
- Professional knowledge of the working environment

- Experiences in the aviation industry.
- Proven knowledge of Aviation Legislation and ICAO Annexes
- Proven exposure to Safety & QA

- Previous Post-holder / Nominated Person experience
