Overview – Digital and Social Media Executive

Salary: £22,000 to £26,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Location: Flexible/London
Working arrangement: 2 – 4 office days per month in London.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day execution of digital content across platforms and social. Your work will include managing and publishing articles, creating and scheduling social media content, and supporting podcast production. You will collaborate closely with a passionate team of editors, designers, and producers to ensure that high-quality content reaches and resonates with our dedicated audience. Your efforts will directly contribute to the expansion and influence of our mission-driven platform.

Key Responsibilities

Content and Publishing

  • Upload and format articles in line with editorial and brand guidelines.
  • Manage article metadata, categorisation, scheduling, and publication.
  • Coordinate with the editorial and strategy teams to ensure content is released in line with the publishing schedule.

Podcast Support

  • Coordinate distribute podcast episodes across multiple platforms
  • Ensure metadata, titles, and visual assets are accurate and consistent.
  • Manage promotional clips, trailers, and audiograms across channels.

Social Media Scheduling

  • Manage the scheduling and posting of content across social media platforms, including Twitter (X), Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure timely delivery of branded graphics, thumbnails, and visuals.
  • Edit and upload visuals using available templates and tools as needed to ensure consistency across channels.

Partnerships and Outreach

  • Attend public events, panels, and conferences to help develop the external network.
  • Represent the digital initiatives at relevant summits and gatherings.
  • Identify and build relationships with potential partners, including donors, podcast guests, and contributing writers.
  • Explore collaboration opportunities with like-minded organisations and individuals.

Platform Maintenance

  • Perform layout fixes and basic troubleshooting in CMS platforms.
  • Monitor SEO performance, broken links, and general site health.
  • Report issues to developers or escalate to the Digital Manager.
  • Reply to customer emails.

Community and Monitoring

  • Flag issues, feedback, or engagement opportunities.
  • Track relevant news cycles and flag content opportunities.

Qualities and Skills

  • Experience managing content in CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress, Substack).
  • Understanding of publishing workflows and editorial consistency.
  • Familiarity with podcast upload and promotion processes.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Confidence working across multiple teams (editorial, design, production).
  • Ideally, an interest in politics and a passion for engaging with the cultural and political shifts prevailing in the West.
