Role: Production Planning Engineer
Location: Luton
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 40 hours per week.
The role of a Production Planning Engineer in aircraft maintenance is crucial in ensuring that all maintenance activities are meticulously planned and executed in full compliance with regulatory airworthiness requirements. Here’s a breakdown of the main job accountabilities based on your description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and Control Maintenance Work Packages:
- Prepare detailed work packages for production staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and airworthiness standards.
- Follow internal departmental procedures throughout the process.
- Maintain Work Cards and Databases:
- Create and update master work cards/databases for specific projects.
- Identify subcontract needs, necessary spare parts, and appropriate tooling for each project.
- Liaise with Internal and External Stakeholders:
- Collaborate with internal departments (production, safety, compliance) and external customers.
- Ensure all work instructions are communicated clearly and concisely.
- Generate and Issue Maintenance Packages:
- Prepare and issue operator-specific maintenance packages for production staff, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Schedule and Plan Ahead:
- Proactively schedule maintenance activities for predetermined customers, anticipating operational needs.
- Complete an allocation board to track all aircraft planned for the next production shift.
- Support the Planning Manager:
- Provide support to the Planning Manager in daily operations when needed.
- Commercial Awareness:
- Understand and assess the impact of decisions on both customers and the business.
- Balance operational needs with customer requirements and commercial constraints.
- Adaptability and Flexibility:
- Adapt quickly to changing situations, demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing tasks and responding to urgent operational requirements.
- Work Under Pressure:
- React efficiently to time constraints and operational pressures, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality or safety.
- Initiative and Prioritization:
- Work independently, using initiative to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance:
- Collaborate with the Safety and Compliance teams to maintain adherence to procedures.
- Ensure that all actions and decisions promote safety and compliance across the organization.

- Actively support and promote safety and compliance within the company.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- 2 years working in aircraft maintenance, production planning or airline environment;
- Experience in MRO IT software, such as AMOS, OASES, Rusada etc would be an advantage but not essential
- Technical experience in aviation and able to demonstrate knowledge of airworthiness regulation
- Have a working knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Planning; and
- High standard of computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organisation skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of programs used in daily office administration functions such as Word and Excel
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Aptitude for helping others
- Rights to live and work in the UK required on submission
